This our newest luxury apartment — Step into another one of our designer apartments by the well-known Interior Architect, Martine di Mattéo soon to be featured on HGTV’s House Hunters International. The episode will air soon (don’t worry, we’ll let you know when!), but it will illustrate the amazing transformation of what was once a neglected “depot” — a storage unit (!) into a brilliantly-designed and charming duplex with attention paid to the smallest of details.

Located on the ground level at the far end of a cobblestoned and bamboo-planted courtyard in a historic building of the rue Montorgueil shopping district, the two-level apartment offers a living/dining/kitchen area combined with a fully-equipped kitchen and a surprisingly spacious bathroom, all on the main level. The open beams and French decor “à la Martine” is as charming and beautiful as any apartment of any size could be. You will be amazed at how large the space feels thanks to the clever use of space and luxurious decor.

Light enters the apartment from the floor-to-ceiling entry door made of glass, that allows air to enter from a window at the top that opens. Blinds allow in light and the additional custom-made drapes privatize the door, but it’s hardly necessary as there is no “vis-a-vis” to any other apartment — only those venturing to the back of the courtyard will be able to see in!

A large “bibliotèque” occupies one wall of the main level with a decorative fireplace and mantle. Hidden within it behind a large antique mirror that reflects lots of light and doubles the visual space is a large-screen TV, so the room is as beautiful as it can be when the TV is not in use. This is a master spot of storage for many of your belongings. Among the very special decorative features of the bibliotèque at the very top is a series of hand-crafted iron miniatures of Paris monuments displayed with backlighting to create the illusion of the Paris skyline.

This way you will always know you’re in Paris when you’re in this tiny corner of the City of Light. Even though compact, the kitchen is equipped for all your cooking needs with a two-burner stove, a “multi-cuisson” over (oven/microwave/convection), refrigerator and small appliances that make preparing meals simple and easy. You will want to take advantage of the fresh produce offered at the seven-day open-air market on rue Montorgueil just down the street and cook up your own meals.

The spacious bathroom lacks for nothing. It has a large walk-in shower with a rainhead shower + a hand-held shower, toilet, sink with large vanity, a “seche serviette” (towel warmer) and washer/dryer combination.

The bedroom is located on the mezzanine — up an easy-to-climb ‘real’ flight of stairs (as opposed to a spiral staircase!), featuring a queen-size bed and a second toilet with a sink and vanity for convenience (no need to maneuver going downstairs in the middle of the night!). On each side of the bed is additional storage for your belongings. The bedroom can be fully privatized simply by drawing the blinds on the windows that enclose the mezzanine. Extra guests can be accommodated on the comfortable sofa bed on the mail level.

No doubt, you will enjoy every minute of your stay at Le Petit Loft de Paris and may never want to leave.

The Location:

Rue Tiquetonne is a cobblestone pedestrian street in the heart of Paris, part of a neighborhood most often referred to as “Quartier Montorgueil.” Loved by locals and tourists alike, the neighborhood features a series of pedestrian streets surrounding a seven-day open-air market along with a vibrant mix of restaurants cafés, and specialty shops. It is also one of the most centrally-located of Paris neighborhoods in the 2nd arrondissement, close to Le Louvre, l’Opéra, and immediately adjacent to the newly-renovated “Les Halles,” which was once the central marketplace of the city. In fact, rue Montorgueil was once part of Les Halles as the street of fishmongers. Today it is a vibrant center of Paris life.
