Dear Parler Paris Reader,

Is this Paris during the French Revolution or Paris of 2003?

I had to admit, I took a double take. On route home last Saturday afternoon, winding down rue des Francs-Bourgeois in the Marais (a great street to buy typically French gifts), I happened upon a group of troubadours dressed in costume, handing out small flyers to the adoring crowds along the way. Perchance, they stopped in front of a “Pharmacie” whose facade hasn’t changed in centuries, just in time for me to seize the photo-op.

They were promoting two plays performed back-to-back: “Leandre Hongre” and “Les Moeurs du Temps,” each “en un Acte et en Prose” playing that evening and again on Sunday at the Hôtel de Monsieur le Prince de Rohan-Soubise, at 60, rue des Francs-Bourgeois, in celebration of the 3ème Salon du Livre d’Histoire. Entry was free.

Oh woe is me…I was scheduled for dancing at Maxim’s and unable to attend. What a terrible life. (Do you hear the sarcasm in my voice?!)

The point made is that there is simply too much to do in the course of a day, a week, a year or a lifetime in Paris and for someone like me who doesn’t want to miss a single thing, it’s frustrating to say the least.

Let me provide just a few examples of some events you can mark your calendars for right now…
