Starbucks
3-7 boulevard des Capucines

Sénat, “Operation: Yes, You Can!”<

br/>Piaf, Je t’Aime, Cirque d’Hiver
Les Champs-Elysées

Dear Parler Paris Reader,

My friend said it was the most beautiful Starbucks in the world and uses it as one of her ‘offices’ – where she meets clients on a regular basis. ‘Course I have no way of knowing if it is, in fact, the most beautiful, since I personally ‘avoid Starbucks like the plague,’ but I must, say, it’s impressive. See for yourself: 3-7, Boulevard des Capucines, 75002 Paris, just near Opéra.

On route to the Musée du Luxembourg to see the “From Miró to Warhol” exhibition (on till February 22, 2009), a protest was taking place outside the Palais du Luxembourg about the Armenian Genocide. It was worth a chuckle to see the campaign slogan: “Yes, You Can!”…in English. Wonder where they got that phrase from?! Read about it in French at http://www.collectifvan.org/

Edith Piaf is alive and well at the Cirque d’Hiver. “Piaf Je t’Aime” is the first musical comedy about Edith Piaf’s life, on at the Cirque d’Hiver till December 20, 2008. Played by Marie Orlandi, Piaf really comes alive surrounded by a very talented crew of singers and dancers. The Cirque d’Hiver always makes a splendid venue, too! Visit http://www.piafjetaime.fr/ for more information.

The Eiffel Tower is still blue and still sparkling. Even in the worst of weather, when you stand under it, that blue glow takes all the blues away. What would Paris be without it?

The Champs-Elysées is aglow as it is every year for the Christmas Holidays, with the “Grand Roue” anchored at Place de la Concorde. This year, the trees have tear-drop lights nestled among the other little white lights. Stroll down and take the “Roue” to the top for a great view of Paris day or night.

If you’re in Paris about to prepare a turkey for Thanksgiving with American friends, don’t forget to order it in advance from your favorite butcher and that the French birds cook in HALF THE TIME as their American cousins!

Stepping Up to the Paris “Palier”
By Adrian Leeds

There are 70 steps up to my Marais apartment. I counted them the first time climbing them when visiting the apartment in the summer of 1997 before becoming its inhabitant. The stairs date back to the 17th- century and have a particular formation that tells tales of its former life.

The building was once a “htel particulier” (or townhouse), where the wealthy, aristocratic French lived when visiting Paris from their chteaux in the countryside…Subscribers Read On…

PARLER PARIS APARTMENTS

Welcome to your home in Paris. Home is how you will feel in a private apartment in Paris that has the “seal of approval” from Parler Paris Apartments and me, Adrian Leeds.

La Bonne Nobel…Available for the Christmas/New Year’s Holidays!
Two-Bedroom (One-Bedroom + Bedroom/Office), Sleeps 4

Rue Nobel is one of Montmartre’s most charming streets and staircases — the romantic Montmartre we now know as depicted in the popular movie “Amélie Poulain.”

On the third floor of an elegant “pierre-de-taille” building with an elevator, on a quiet stair-stepped street in Montmartre, with no through traffic or hint of noise, sits “La Bonne Nobel.” Completely renovated in late 2007, this gem is bright, shiny and luxuriously comfortable. Every surface and corner of the apartment has been exquisitely decorated in soothing tones of pale blues, beiges and soft browns.
