Le Balcon Planté

We loved our stay at Le Balcon Planté. First of all, we loved the location. It was a non-touristy neighborhood, but with easy access by several metro stations to all of Paris. (We arrived at Gare de Lyon from Provence and walked to the apartment in a few minutes. So easy! Also, we left from Gare de Lyon to go to CDG airport – another easy trip via RER.) It was wonderful to be on the balcony - and in the kitchen- and see the great city views. The apartment itself was very comfortable and was beautifully decorated and very well-equipped. It was also nice to have a bathtub! We loved walking on the Promenade Plantee, just a block from the apartment and being able to come “home” in the mid-afternoon to relax for a couple of hours before the evening’s activities. It was really like an oasis. There was a wonderful boulangerie a couple of blocks away, an organic market across the street, the fabulous Marche Bastille a few blocks away, a good couscous restaurant a few blocks away. We liked being walking distance to the Marais and the Iles, but far enough from the tourist crowds of early July. Free long-distance calls were a great bonus. We will definitely book this apartment again.

A sunny, pleasant apartment in a good location -- near the Gare de Lyon and the Marché d'Aligre. Comfortable beds and plenty of bedding. Both the agency staff and the maintenance personnel were helpful and efficient. We greatly enjoyed the opportunity to live à la Parisienne with the independence and convenience afforded by this apartment. We hope to make a return visit. Thank you.

Great apartment in a great area. Several excellent boulangeries nearby, a large daily market (except Monday) within two blocks where you can buy almost anything, meats, cheeses, wines, etc. A great locally run wine store a half a block away. A great variety of restaurants/bistros from Train Bleu (in the Gare de Lyon) to wine bars. Close to the Metro at Bastille or the RER at Gare de Lyon. Plus nothing beats breakfast on the terrace in nice weather.

The little flat at on rue Abel gave us three days of Paris as it was meant to be. No, it wasn't Spring, or even Autumn, but standing on that balcony overlooking the rooftops was exactly what we needed after a long holiday week of crashing with family and friends. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, the kitchen was well-outfitted, and the building itself is charming and secure. Thank you for coming to our rescue in such a tight pinch.

Thanks for a lovely time in Paris, we thoroughly enjoyed the apartment. It was perfect! Thank goodness for the international phone in the apartment and the problem I had with the credit card was handled quickly. We found the daily market around the corner at L'Aligre courtesy of Fred downstairs in the sandwich shop below...he's very helpful and had obviously met other visitors from the 6th floor. We also went to the open-air market on Sunday morning near Place de la Bastille and that was well worth the visit and discovered the nearby gelato store and it was wonderful, sculpting our cones into a beautiful flower! We loved Paris, especially St. Chapelle and the Montmarte area and enjoyed really nice weather, only sprinkled on once or twice for a brief shower. Everyone we met in Paris was helpful and more than kind....the apartment made for a "dream vacation" where we could have morning coffee/tea and breakfast before heading out each day to discover Paris. The kitchen was fully stocked and bright and cheerful with a nice rooftop view. It was so enjoyable sitting around the table while writing in our journals nightly and checking our email, listening to nice music from the selection in the apartment. We found the postcards of the balcony in the basket near the phone and were thrilled to send them to our families. We took a picture from the street below with us on the balcony, hopefully it turned out well. I'd recommend the apartment to everyone, definitely! I hope to return to Paris with my husband, we'd love to be there for Le Tour....someday. Again, the apartment was fantastic, it was so welcoming, we truly felt "at home" in Paris.
