“Three Years, Three New Luxury Apartments”

Three years ago in the month of August, it was hot like it has been this year, and “Le Provençal” was in the final stages of renovation. As they say, “the devil is in the details,” and that took painstaking attention and literal sweat equity to turn it into the little luxury rental I had imagined.

It was then that we started up the vacation rental service of “Parler Paris Apartments” — the answer to taking reservations for the tiny studio apartment and for the other apartments our clients were purchasing for investment purposes.

Whenever someone came to us to search out a good investment property, one of their first questions was, “Who will manage it?,” to which it seemed only natural to reply, “We will.” And so the business was born — with a handful of select apartments we could trust to be of the ultimate quality and luxury in the best possible locations.

This summer, not only have the Paris apartment rentals remained strong in spite of the economic crises, but we’re seeing floods of requests for the fall. The apartments we represent are booking up quickly. Meanwhile, new investment property owners are seeking proper representation of their apartments.

There are lots of agencies in Paris, but each is different in some way. Some are only advertising vehicles for apartments that are managed directly by their owners. They offer no service other than the booking and make no attempt to maintain any kind of standard of quality. These usually represent many apartments and therefore it’s easy to find a wide selection, but because there is no classification of quality, and therefore the choice becomes difficult in discerning which are the best for the price.

Others provide full service and do proper “meet/greets” of arriving guests and like ours, offer a “bouquet” of highly qualified apartments. Choice is simpler — like shopping in a boutique rather than in a department store and you can trust the shopkeeper to value you as a customer.

The owners who come to us to represent their apartments must qualify for our standards in order to even be considered as part of our offering. The apartments must have good location, plenty of charm and well decorated plus all the amenities that ranks at the highest standard. On top of this, the owners themselves must be aware that we are in a real partnership as we work together to provide an outstanding product with responsibility first and foremost to the renter/client — that their satisfaction is first in line.

These we don’t find often, but when we do, we are confident, too, that our renters will find the apartment every bit as appealing as we do.

Just this week, we added three new apartments to the “bouquet” of properties for short-term rental. This makes a current mix of 16 apartments ranging from studio apartments to three-bedrooms. A fair mix is important to satisfying a broad range of rental clients, but we are devoted to making the service available first to our search clients and second to outside investors whose properties fit our high standards.

All Parler Paris Apartments must meet a certain quality standard and be equipped with a long list of amenities in order for it to be considered a viable rental.

These standards include:

1. central location well positioned
2. lots of light
3. pleasant views
4. elevator or low level
5. quality or professional decor
6. new bath and kitchen
7. completely equipped for comfort
8. owner-agent partnership
9. quality building
10. neighborhood amenities

Our newest additions fit this criteria (as do all our others). Let me tell you a bit about them:

NUMBER 1

Le Bonaparte
Rue Bonaparte, 6th Arrondissement
Saint-Germain-des-Prés
Large Studio, Sleeps 2

Le Bonaparte is a charming and beautifully decorated studio apartment overlooking one of the chicest designer streets in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. On the third floor of a classic “pierre-de-taille” (detailed stone) building, the lovely “pied-à-terre” is equipped with double-paned windows for ultimate quiet, yet when you step out onto the street, everything you could need or desire is within steps.

NUMBER 2

L’Elysée
Rue de la Boétie, 8th Arrondissement
Champs-Elysées
Large Studio,5th Floor with Elevator, Sleeps up to 4

L’Eysée is a large, contemporary studio apartment with lots of sun, sky and beautiful views. The large queen-sized bed is raised on a platform that puts you up above living area and adds dimension to the spacious room. The open kitchen is completely equipped with everything you need to make your at-home meals easy and pleasant. Relax on the sofa in front of the large flat-screen TV to watch anything from CNN to French movies after a long day shopping along the Champs-Elysées. For work or just checking emails, the desk in one corner is the prefect respite while the sun pours in.

For a business person seeking immediate access to the heart of Paris business activity or the vacationer seeking a central location from which most monuments are easily reached, L’Elysée is perfect home away from home.

NUMBER 3

Le Saint-Tropez and La Brigitte

Available for Rental December 2009
Rue de Saintonge, 3rd Arrondissement
Le Marais
Air-Conditioned Studio with Large Terrace and an Additional Studette, 4th Floor with Elevator, Sleeps up to 4

Le Saint-Tropez and La Brigitte (named after Brigitte Bardot who made Saint-Tropez famous) are two apartments that may be combined for usage, or singularly rented.

Currently under massive renovation, both are promised to be of the highest luxury with frivolously fun decor created by a Paris “mosaiste” and the owner herself…me! This is the apartment you’ve been reading about for about four years…the “viager” with a view!

Completion is scheduled for the end of November for December occupancy. Those who book earlier than December 15th risk being moved to another Parler Paris Apartment while the last details are attended to. (Remember, “the devil is in the details!”) We recommend securing your dates as of December 15th to be confident of your stay there.

* Le Saint Tropez

Le Saint Tropez is a studio apartment of approximately 23 square meters on the 4th floor of a 17th-century Marais building with exposed beams, high ceilings, skylight, an unusual picture window over exposed beams and two French doors leading to a 14 square-meter terrace overlooking rue de Saintonge!

The apartment will be air-conditioned for summer comfort, heated for the winter and the terrace will be planted and furnished for lazy days and evenings in the outdoors where you will be able to dine, relax or check your emails.

The decor is being designed with the help of Martine di Matteo, Veronique Husson, the “Mosaiste” who created “Le Provençal” and Sheila Kern, trompe l’oeil artist. The concept is the recreation of the feeling one gets vacationing in Saint-Tropez, the town on the Riviera “known today for its famous and wealthy guests, its history with the iconic Brigitte Bardot, and its role in the liberation of Southern France in World War II” (Wikipedia.org).

Whether dining at the hand-made mosaic and iron table in front of the unusual picture window or lounging on the terrace with bright sun on your face (the apartment and terrace are southeast exposure with sunlight all day long!), you will be able to imagine yourself on the beach in Saint-Tropez among the rich and famous and with all its outstanding luxury…but in reality, be in the heart of the oldest district of the city of Paris! What could be more perfect?

It will sleep two comfortably in a queen-sized bed, or separated to twin beds for singles traveling together. There will be plenty of storage two unpack your bags and stow them away.

The apartment will have a fully equipped open kitchen with refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, washer/dryer, es

presso machine, electric kettle (and if possible, a dishwasher), not to mention all the dinnerware, silverware, cooking utensils and basic supplies you might need to feel totally at home.

The bath will be luxurious with tub and shower, vanity and sink, toilet, well-lit mirror, hair dryer and plenty of space to keep all your toiletries.

The apartment promises to be my finest creation — an oasis in the heart of the city’s best district — Le Marais.

* La Brigitte

La Brigitte is a “studette” apartment of approximately 8 square meters just a few steps down the corridor from Le Saint-Tropez. It has two large windows overlooking two Marais courtyards plus lots of sky. This is a perfect spot for a third and fourth guest to accompany you while you stay in Le Saint-Tropez. It may be rented as an “add-on” to Le Saint-Tropez.

Like Le Saint-Tropez, it will have the same artistic decor, so nothing will be spared. In this smaller space will be a full bathroom — equipped with a shower, toilet, vanity and sink, plus storage for your belongings. You will be completely comfortable in this tiny “aerie” with your friends just down the hall at Le Saint-Tropez, plus have total privacy.
