PIN.

Remember this acronym. No, it does not stand for “Personal Identification Number.” It stands for “Property Investment Network.”

It was started by Simon Zutshi in the UK — a Property Investment Professional, Speaker, and Networker ‘extraordinaire.’ Here in Paris PIN will be launched this May 24th, hosted by Justine Trueman, a Professional Investor and Finance Writer/Editor who is the author of Detox Your Finances: the ultimate book of money matters for women.

And I’m one of their “Working Partners.” This means I’ll be speaking at every meeting providing an update on the market and from time to time going into depth on other topics…such as how to create a high return rental property (with information about the recent rental laws), fractional property development and investments on the Riviera.

Poet and Teacher, Cecilia Woloch, is our guest at tomorrow’s Parler Paris Après Midi. She’s here as instructor of “The Poet in Paris” intermediate-level poetry-writing course offered as part of the Maymester program at the University of Southern California. The workshop was created by Cecilia and is a month-long course for undergraduate poets to work closely with Cecilia and a host of guest poets who live and write in the City of Light. “Students are participating in intensive workshops, discussions, readings, and the literary and cultural life of the city so as to broaden their vision and range as writers. This is where they come to share their experiences”…

PARIS.

The days are long and the evenings have that pinkish glow that our eyes and the photographers’ lenses love. The lighting becomes transfused, with no brights, no darks and just a kind of glow that warms all the hues. It never ceases to thrill me, even after all these years.

Thursday night leaving the American Library in Paris after attending “A Night at the Movies” with Judith Merians where she brilliantly discussed “The Shawshank Redemption,” I stopped us all in our tracks just to notice the lighting and gaze upon the Eiffel Tower silhouetted against the rose-colored sky.

Once about 17 years ago, I was walking at the base of the Champs de Mars in front of Ecole Militaire adjacent to another pedestrian walking at the same pace. The Tower was silhouetted in the same manner and it was stunning — absolutely stunning. Surprisingly, the other pedestrian never once turned to look at it. I vowed then never to become so jaded as to not notice these beautiful surroundings or take them for granted.

So, friends and family know I am prone to expounding on these nuances of life in the City of Light. When my daughter was quite young, before her own career in photography and after one of my enthusiastic discourses on the sheer beauty of the scene, she said, “Mom, this city is really the right place for you to live.” She was right.
