"La
Table du Roi" ("The Kings's Table) is a one bedroom
slice of old world charm, destined to please those looking for
luxury and elegance. On the first floor (European) of a 17th-century
building on rue du Roi de Sicile in the heart of Le Marais (4th
arrondissement), it is steps from rue de Rivoli, rue Vieille du
Temple, the Hôtel de Ville, Place de la Bastille, the River
Seine and everything that Le Marais has to offer.
Newly
renovated by our Interior Architect, Martine di Matteo, it has
a full bedroom with three openings to the living room (two French
pocket doors and even an antique window!). The bed is adorned
by a hand-painted mural made especially for the apartment. The
doors and windows close and drapes can be lowered for complete
privacy in the bedroom. A closet the length of one wall has been
especially created to fit the space and house all your belongings.
The
center apartment wall is open, exposing the original 17th-century
beams to give visual space to the living room and kitchen, both
having lots of light from the 3.5 meter-high windows. Lavish drapery
adds to the elegant decor.
The
signature of the entire apartment is a table that has been cleverly
carved around the old beams so that a dining table serves the
living room and a breakfast nook serves the kitchen! A leaf can
be added to the table to elongate it so that four can be seated
comfortably on the living room side. We venture to say that no
other apartment in Paris can claim such a unique table...hence
"La Table du Roi!"
At
the other side of the living room is an extending desk, constructed
to create a spacious work corner next to the window. A luxurious
sofa bed opens to sleep another two guests comfortably. There
is storage under the windows and another behind the armchairs
where a fireplace once stood with hand-carved antique doors.
The
open kitchen is fully equipped to handle even the most elaborate
gourmet meal and includes an oven, two-burner stove, microwave,
refrigerator and washer/dryer combination machine.
The
bath, handy to the entrance and facing the bedroom, has windows
across the top to allow lots of light. It is beautifully equipped,
with a state-of-the-art rainfall showerhead, heated towel rack,
clothes drying rack and thick luxurious towels.
The
apartment's decor says "17th-century Paris," but modern
technology has been unobtrusively incorporated to meet your needs.
It is equipped with a portable air conditioner for the warmest
seasons along with high-speed Internet, flat-screen TV, multi-zone
DVD player, and free(!) long distance phone service to 70 countries.
Considering
the size of the apartment, every inch has been brilliantly used
to make for a luxurious stay in the City of Light. No detail has
been spared for comfort for up to four guests.
Le
Marais and the Area Around "La Table du Roi"
Located
in the heart of Le Marais steps from rues Vieille du Temple and
des Rosiers, La Table du Roi, offers all of Le Marais at your
feet with everything it has to offer. A historic district protected
by strict city regulations, Le Marais has gentrified over the
past 50 years to become the chicest district with the finest boutiques,
restaurants and museums literally on your doorstep.
Some
of the most immediate attractions include rue des Rosiers (old
Jewish Quarter), the Hôtel de Ville, the Place des Vosges,
Village Saint-Paul, the Musées Carnavalet, Picasso, the
Victor Hugo House, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie,
the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire du Judaïsme and others,
Place de la Bastille, Eglise Saint-Paul and Saint-Gervais and
hundreds of other sights within a few steps. The River Seine,
the Ile Saint-Louis and Ile de la Cité are also just a
short walk away.
But
most delightful, is Le Marais itself — a cornucopia of lifestyles
and a mecca of shopping, dining and cultural venues incomparable
to other parts of the city...all within 16th, 17th and 18th-century
walls. This is the oldest part of the city and home to many different
communities — Jewish, Gay, Chinese and best of all, it's
still very, very French. It is vibrant and teeming with life all
hours of the day and night.
You
will feel the centuries of French history as you stroll the narrow
cobblestone streets and take in the special architectural delights
of the "hôtels particuliers" and "petite
maisons" in between. Any guide book or historical account
will be able to describe in detail all the attractions of the
district, but the real pleasure is in self-discovery. As a resident
in a centuries-old building, you will be able to truly absorb
all it has to offer like no other "quartier" can.

We're barely home from Paris and already missing La Table du Roi,
where we spent a wonderful three weeks. It's in a perfect location,
surrounded by cafés, bakeries, museums and street markets,
has easy access to several Métro lines, and is just a short
walk from the beautiful bridges of the Seine. Do be ready for
a lively urban-chic environment at your doorstep. Ours was a working
trip and after a long day of interviewing farmers and chefs (tough
job but somebody's got to do it), the La Table du Roi was a welcoming
hideaway to come "home" to with its quietly elegant
furnishings, well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bed. Little
details like a stock of books and dvds, a phone and Internet access
made things that much easier. We've rented apartments before in
Paris and this experience was seamless. The email and phone contact
was prompt, paperwork complete, payment was simple via credit
card, and check-in and check-out were both efficient and gracious.
We'll be back, both to this apartment and to this agency. Merci
to the Adrian Leeds Group for helping to make our trip wonderful!

I’m
home after spending an incredible February in Paris. I wanted
to say thank you for helping me find the perfect place to stay.
La Table du Roi is a perfectly equipped apartment right in the
center of the Marais lifestyle, surrounded by shops, boulangeries,
nightlife and restaurants. When I arrived, the roses and petals
were a beautiful sight and the apartment was more charming and
better equipped than I had hoped for. During
my stay I was able to use the well equipped kitchen for a number
of delicious dinners. The location was spectacular -– as
I was able to go nearly anywhere within just a few minutes. After
a couple of very long days, it was great to relax one evening
and watch a movie. It was a nice surprise to find such a good
selection of movies, books and guides. I had a friend come to
stay for about a week and she found the convertible bed to be
very comfortable. I would recommend this apartment to anyone that
wants to experience living in Marais firsthand!

We
had such a great time that I have no doubt that we will be returning
to Paris and will book through Parler Paris again. We
had a wonderful stay at La Table du Roi. It truly was a home away
from home. The apartment was and is comfortable and cozy, modern
but also has a wonderful romantic charm. La Table du Roi became
our haven and really made us feel as though Paris was our home
for a month. It was a wonderful feeling while train hopping through
Europe to find ourselves saying that though we had a wonderful
time in Madrid, Rome and Venice that we were glad to be going
back to "our" apartment in Paris and every time we got
off the train back in Paris, we always had the sense of coming
home when we stepped through the apartment door.
I
found the service offered by Parler Paris Apartments to be fantastic.
Everyone was extremely helpful and above all professional and
there was always someone to help and answer any questions regarding
the apartment. Parler Paris Apartments made the whole process
of booking over the Internet easy and there were no "hidden
surprises." Everything was transparent and professional and
everything was done very efficiently, from answering my many questions
prior to committing to a lease all the way through to someone
making the effort to greet us in Paris and let us into the apartment
as well as making themselves available during our stay if we needed
any help regarding the apartment.

The
apartment and location could not have been better. Just outside
the door of the building are wonderful bakeries, restaurants and
shops. The Métro is only a short distance away in either
direction you go. We truly felt like we were locals living at
La Table du Roi. The support and information from John of Parler
Paris Apartments was outstanding.

Thank
you very much for your most excellent hospitality - we really
enjoyed our stay at La Table du Roi. The apartment is really something
else -- very well laid out, and very interestingly designed and
decorated. The location was fabulous, and the combination of location
and excellent apartment meant that we had a truly fantastic holiday
that worked very well for us and our eleven month old daughter.
We were really impressed by the feeling of hospitality. Barbara
made us feel welcome right away, and gave us lots of very useful
local information, including restaurants that we could take our
baby daughter to. She really knew the area, and her expertise
was an unexpected, and much appreciated bonus. She really set
a great tone for a wonderful holiday. I was also extremely impressed
by the thoughtful touches -- the 'guide to the flat,' including
the full instruction manuals for everything in the flat, the guidebooks
on the bookshelves, the DVDs, the extend to which the kitchen
was stocked (including things like foil, cling film, kitchen roll
and dish washing liquid -- very much appreciated!) and the extra
linens. This is a very well run business, and we would definitely
consider an Adrian Leeds property for our next trip to Paris.
Thanks again! You should be very proud of the level of service
that you offer, as it is excellent, and I consider myself to have
very high standards! Keep up the good work.

We
thought the whole experience was fantastic. I can't think of anything
that was unsatisfactory and over the time between rental and actual
trip we were kept up to date by John. Barbara was waiting for
us at the apartment when we arrived and was very helpful. The
free phone was great since I needed to make daily calls home.
I can't wait to return again!
We had a wonderful time at the apartment on the rue de Roi de
Sicile. The apartment was gorgeous and very true to the photo
on the web (always a plus). The exposed beams were amazing and
really allowed you to see the age of the apartment. The queen
bed easily pulled apart into twins so no one had to sleep on the
pull out. Having a kitchen was a fabulous luxury so that we could
bring food in from all the lovely markets and fromageries in the
area. The location was perfect and we found everything we needed
within walking distance of the apartment from ATM machine, glorious
teas at Marriage Frères, great food and even the Métro
Stop at St. Paul. We took leisurely evening walks every night
to see Paris by night, do some window shopping and have a gelatto.
I can't say enough about how pleased we were with our stay.
