It was the coldest, wettest day of Spring we've had, but still we had a big turn out to Après Midi. Lots of regulars joined us, but we had a good showing of newcomers:
Carolyn A. Scherk walked in, saw me holding my iPhone, thought it was a note pad and ordered her drink from me! We all got a big laugh when I explained I wasn't the waitress! That's how the day started! She has a step-daughter and family here and comes to see and do what she can in the limited time. She also apologized for her mistake about ten times! No matter -- it was all in good fun.
Judith Lundin brought along her sister, Pam Miller. They love to visit Paris once or twice a year to see their favorite things and something new each time. Judith has always wanted to own an apartment in Paris or perhaps, even a B and B.
Tony Blau and Phyllis Prinz are both New Yorkers who come regularly. Phyllis bought an apartment in Le Marais about five years ago with our consultation. Tony is an MD who enjoys visiting his long-standing girlfriend, Phyllis, while trying not to each too much bread (!) and pretend he lives here, even though his stays are only a few weeks a year.
Jack and Patty Nelson from Pacific Grove, California, on the ocean, love France, come here frequently on vacation, often for a month at a time, staying in rental apartments.
Robert and Dolly Carp, friends of Jack and Patty, also live in Pacific Grove and have come here for the second time. They are staying on rue Commines in Le Marais and loving it.
Joe Morea is Andy Quintenz' partner, and part owner of "Le Palace des Vosges" fractional owership apartment in the Place des Vosges. Joe came along while Andy was working and both are enjoying their two weeks here.
Daryl Balestra and his wife love the city and wouldn't mind living here part of the time and always rent an apartment for their stay.
Steve Diener is a newcomer to Parler Paris and came toward the end, but with enough time to meet a few others.
Christine Shepard has a daughter and son-in-law living here, so she comes often to visit her grandchildren, with hopes to be here from September through November.
Shirley Weatherly loves Paris, comes here once a year and wants to be conversational in French.
Regulars to Après Midi:
Roger Foreman, who likes coming to Paris more each year, is a day-trader so that he can work and play and is seeing as many shows as he can dotted by day trips.
Naoma Foreman, Roger's sidekick and wife, both living in Phoenix, and here for a three-month holiday to do what Roger likes to do, too...shows, films, fairs and whatever is going on in Paris.
Florence Richburg...Executive Assistant to Adrian Leeds, and retired Air Force living in Paris under the motto, "Just Live."
Alice Needham and Bill Sandie are still messing with their ongoing renovation project. It's the bathroom that's causing all the problems!
