Victoria The Pleasure Coach

"Does Paris Give You Permission to Have Pleasure?"

Join Victoria, The Pleasure Coach for a liberating view on how you can most benefit from that sly and encouraging nod the city of Paris offers you --the nod that says: go ahead, live your life with sexual pleasure. Victoria will share the beats of her own transformation (no, not X-rated!) and her observations on the social and cultural factors that encouraged a life-changing journey...so much so, she left her career in the children's television business to create her pleasure coaching service. Meeting of May 10, 2011
Photos do not necessarily match descriptions.

Judith Merians, an entertainment attorney and business executive for the Hollywood Studios and independent production companies for 27 years, generously spoke at Après Midi about the story behind the the top film of 2010, "The King's Speech." She took us from beginng to end to answer these questions: How did an envelope slipped through Geoffrey Rush's mail slot start this project rolling? Why did screenwriter David Seidler wait 28 years to write his Oscar winning script? What did Tom Hooper's mother tell him that helped him win the Oscar for best director? Who was the first choice for the role of King George VI, the part for which Colin Firth won the best actor Oscar? Why did Helena Bonham Carter delay production of the film for months? What did producer Harvey Weinstein do to score four Oscars for this film? What did the Queen Mother have to do with all of this?

The story behind the little film that beat all the big guys was absolutely fascinating and held us all captive for a good 45 minutes! Thank you, Judith!

Judith will also be speaking at the American Library in Paris:

Tue 17 May | 19h30
A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES with Judith Merians: A Streetcar Named Desire

Tue 07 June 2011 | 19h30
A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES with Judith Merians: Psycho

When asked each of the attendees to tell us a little something about themselves, here's what they wrote:

Aaron Phillips: I came to Paris to find a job, took courses at La Sorbonne, did an internship and am now looking for other opportunities.

Judy Wilson: Here because I love Paris...vacation after tax season...one week at Lutèce Langue and two weeks in the South of France pour faire les tours aux vélos.

Eleanor Taylor: J'adore Paris. J'ai de la famille française ici au 20ème et je viens souvent. J'habite à L.A.

Jim Armstrong: First-time visiter...perhaps a future Expat.

Ana Maria Scott: I came for the "Paris experience."

Bill Sandie and Alice Needham: Ancien physicien à la rétraite...retired school teacher.

Roger and Naoma Foreman: This year my focus is French, so have a French tutor 14 hours par semaine. As usual, rest is lots of culture, day trps. Living near Métro Guy Moquet in apartment with two terraces -- we're in heaven!

Alexander Clark Armstrong: I am here on vacation with my family -- looking forward to the talk.

Janet Clark: On holidays with husband and children -- lots of galleries/museums -- enjoying walking everywhere and great food and wine!

Karen Henrich: Tour operator -- Nuit BlancheTours.com and plublisher of Tap Books

Patricia Laplante Collins: Still hosting Paris Soirées every Sunday night. Be sure to visit www.parissoirees.com.

Valerie Grauer: Nuskin Distributor – always looking for entrepreneurs for my network of distributors.

And those who wrote nothing, but were present:

Al Stewart, Michael Honegger, Timothy Smith, Judith Merians, Vanessa Hulme, Mary Duncan, Mike Lincicome, Lynn Jeffress, Janet Connellly Dillenseger

Next on the agenda on June 8th is David Downie, author of Food Wine Burgundy, Paris City of Night and Paris, Paris: Journey into the City of Light, discussing "Paris and the Nostalgia Business: Merging Past and Present in the City of Light"

Be sure to mark your calendar to be there.
