Véronique Savoye, Tour Guide and Travel Writer
This month’s Aprés-Midi will be via Zoom only! Register below.
A dual French-American citizen, Véronique has spent most of her adult life studying, working, and living in France (her homeland,) and in the United States. She relocated to Paris in 2019, after 23 years in Seattle, WA, where she worked as an adult educator and a cross-cultural trainer. Her favorite creative outlet while in the US? Sharing France and French culture on her 10-year old blog, French Girl in Seattle.
In 2019, she traveled around France with North American visitors as a tour guide for Rick Steves Europe and led her own Paris-based neighborhood and French immersion tours. Since the spring of 2020, Veronique has reinvented herself into a virtual tour guide, creating original, multimedia content about Paris and France, and sharing it with francophiles around the world on social media under “France with Vero.” She also teaches online French lessons for adult learners.
Véronique has lived with a foot in two cultures, France and the United States, for several decades. She often feels like the only constant in her life has been change, even if some patterns seem to repeat themselves. Doesn’t she live once again in Paris, the city she called home for more than ten years (mid-1980s to mid-1990s)?
Still, is Paris the same, or has it changed beyond recognition? What would Véronique’s 30-year old self think of the French capital if she moved here for the first time in 2020? What would she have missed? What would she embrace now in the “New Paris”?
As we search for answers, you can expect a native’s honest (and often humorous) point of view on Parisian culture, mentality, and way of life.”
Join us as we chat with Vero in December!
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
