Located at:  François Miron in the 4th arrondissement, Paris

Own a piece of history in the heart of the Marais. Ma Maison Miron is a fractional ownership property in one of Paris’s oldest buildings dating back to the 14th-century.

THE APARTMENT

Everyone in Paris knows the building. Tour buses drive by to point it out to tourists. A trail of spectators stroll by daily to stop for a look, take photos, and marvel at the beauty of this “colombage” (half-timbered) structure that sends one back in time to when Paris was a medieval town and life centered around the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral.

Located at 11-13 rue François Miron in the 4th arrondissement, and in the heart of Le Marais, it’s just steps from the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall), the area around the Eglise Saint-Paul, and very close to the Seine River. These were once two houses: number 11: At the sign of the Reaper (this name is engraved on the front) and number 13: At the Sign of the Sheep, at the corner of the tiny rue Cloche-Perce. It was restored in the 1970s and combined to make one apartment building.

The apartment is a studio of 18 square meters (194 square feet), with two square-paned windows overlooking the beautiful buildings opposite on the street. Even though it’s street-side, now that the traffic has been rerouted and the buses are electric, it’s incredibly quiet.

You can choose between the ELEVATOR or the ancient balustrade staircase to take you to the third floor and down the hall to enter its door. Just inside, the magical space oozing with charm is framed by exposed beams on the ceiling and in the walls. It is beautifully decorated, luxuriously appointed, and fully equipped (missing nothing!) by our illustrious Interior Designer, Martine di Mattéo.

To your left, as you enter, behind a glass and iron panel is the black wood and checkerboard tile kitchen, efficient with refrigerator, washer/dryer combination, marble sink, multi-cook oven (microwave, convection, and standard), two-burner stove, Nespresso coffee-maker, French coffee press, kettle and a myriad of cooking implements. The cookware hangs exposed while the plates, glasses, and cutlery are in the cabinets and drawers. It may be small, but it has everything you need to exercise your culinary talents.

Between the kitchen and the two large square-paned windows is an oval dining table with two armchairs, plus hidden away are two folding chairs for when you have guests. On the right wall as you enter and facing the table and bed is a large custom-made closet, surfaced by the famous Plan de Turgot map of the city of Paris from the early 18th-century. Behind the doors of the closet are lots of hanging and shelf storage for your belongings, a flat-screen television, and the Internet system that supports WiFi, satellite TV (well over 100 channels), and a VOIP phone (free calls to almost anywhere in the world). Also, an air-conditioning unit is hidden away for use in the summer months so that when Paris feels the heat, you will be cool as a cucumber. Above the closet is a bookshelf where we have added baskets for various supplies and where you can keep all your guidebooks, maps, history books, and cookbooks—or just a few knick-knacks.

Between the windows is an antique lingerie chest and mirror for even more storage of your precious possessions. This little oasis is equipped with a very comfortable queen-sized bed that can be made up as twins so you don’t have to share if you don’t want to. A custom-built unit around the headboard provides nightstands and plenty of surface and storage space next to the bed, complete with electric plugs and lights on dimmers for reading or romance. High overhead is an artisan-constructed glass and iron cabinet to store away the linens—it matches the beautiful glass and iron sliding doors that privatize the bathroom, made by the same Paris artisan, Raphael.

In spite of the apartment’s compact size, the bathroom is both luscious and luxurious with a large glass-walled shower with rain head, sink, large medicine cabinet for all your toiletries, and toilet. The apartment, while compact, is missing nothing and is designed to make your four weeks in Paris every year as wonderful as possible…all in your own home in the middle of the City of Light!

Ma Maison Miron is in the heart of “Le Marais,” the center of everything wonderful in Paris and there’s lots of transportation nearby:
Métro: St. Paul (#1), Hôtel de Ville (#1, #11), Bastille (#1, #8, #5)
Buses: 47, 67, 69, 70, 72, 75, 91, 96

The current owners are the nicest group of folks you’d ever want to meet. They use a Facebook Group Page with which to communicate with one another that makes it simple to exchange information and trade usage times!

Here’s what a few owners have had to report this past year, ever since confinement was lifted:
  • “The L’s are in the Maisonnnn!! All is well, the apartment is adorable and beyond comfortable. Luz is the concierge with the most. The geraniums look as happy as we are. The view is to die for!”
  • “The apartment was definitely worth the 18-month wait. The space and storage are optimized to the 9’s. Perfect design, Adrian!!”
  • “It’s actually pretty remarkable that the apartment had everything one needed to live even back then, however teeny tiny. But, I agree with Alicia –– thank God for Adrian, Martine and J.L.!”
