“Such a joy”

quote mark

“I walked out of the Nice train station and was dazzled by the somewhat shabby historical elegance, the veneer of deeply-etched urban life, the colors everywhere. I went swimming that first evening, bobbing in the blue as the horizon changed colors. The next day, your property consultant had come up with two apartments to see: one absolutely gorgeous, but at the tippy top of our price range, and one that was more modest in every way, while still ticked off all the boxes of our priorities. Even though I had always said that there was no way I would ever settle for seeing only three places, we were very seriously interested in the less expensive apartment. That is how we find ourselves having paid in full for an apartment in the Heraclès, a Modern Movement 1960 building on a street at the northwestern edge of Musiciens, with messy views of the train tracks as you walk up the block. From the center of Nice, virtually everything is walkable…Our days there are such a joy, that we can’t quite believe we are free to invent our future in that setting. In the spirit of Carnaval, you “can be whatever you want to be…”
