“During our combined careers we have been fortunate to live in a variety of countries overseas, so are not unfamiliar with the challenges and joys associated with settling into a new home. That said, our moves were usually supported by the government, the military, international schools, or a company. This time was different. As retired people, we decided to move to France, a country we love–but this time we would be doing it on our own. We managed to secure our VLS-TS visas, but realized that we would need help and support once we arrived in France. We were right!
