Paris At Half-Price
I am not a travel agent and I don’t get anything out of what I’m about to tell you except that maybe I can encourage some of you Americans who have been waiting for things to settle down a bit to come visit me here in Paris.
When I was traveling here as a tourist, October was my favorite time of year to come…and still is my favorite time to be here. It’s usually sunny and crisp, but not too cold or too rainy and there’s so much going on in the city, it’s unbelievable. In fact, that’s one reason we hold our Working and Living in France Conference every year at this time.
But, there’s where I screwed up and you’re going to like it. I overestimated and booked too many rooms at our conference hotel in Paris at half-price in our name for the nights of October 23 – 27. So, I’ve got a block of rooms at the Home Plazza Bastille in the name of International Living at a ridiculous 140 euros a night (single room price but a double is just 158 euros when you add one breakfast) when they usually go for 268 euros (286 euros for a double)! It’s a great deal for our conference participants and it’s a great deal for you …because if you don’t take these rooms, and I have to give them up, nobody benefits.
The Home Plazza Bastille is just a few minutes on foot from the “Place de la Bastille,” “Place des Vosges,” the heart of “Le Marais” and very near “Le Musée Picasso.” Its 18th and 19th-century renovated buildings surround a beautiful courtyard…and one building was designed by Gustave Eiffel! It is the largest “Suite Hôtel de Charme” of First Class in the historical center of Paris…is a 3-Star of Superior Deluxe. All the rooms have kitcenettes, air conditioning, bathroom and toilet, sitting area, television (satellite), telephone and safety box. Last night a friend said she had been checking air fares and they were ridiculously cheap for the fall. So, I got on the Net this morning and found a fare New York to Paris for $241 on U.S. Airways (http://www.usairways.com). Next in line were fares like $375 and $377 (http://www.cheaptickets.com) …cheapest I can remember in a long time. So, this could be the easiest way to accrue mileage for your next FREE trip if you’re into playing that game like I am.
Here’s all you have to do: If you book your stay at the Home Plazza Bastille with our reservation agent Michael Whetstine (mailto:[email protected]) during any of the days of October 23 – 27, 2003 (adding some days before or after those dates if you like), you’ll get our special International Living half-price room rate of 140 euros single/158 euros double. Breakfast is included and there’s parking at the hotel for an extra 15 euros per day. You can also call or fax Michael at Telephone: +561.968.8007 or +888.968.8007, Fax: +561.968.0840. (Michael may also be able to help you get your plane reservations.)
This isn’t a joke. And I don’t get a red centime from this — it’s a benefit to our readers and a personal wish to have you back in Paris!
A la prochaine…

P.S. If you decide to come during that period, you’ll have an opportunity to take the Grand Tour of Paris with Thirza Vallois (/frenchproperty/conference/grandtour.html) or the Survival French course with Elisabeth Crochard (/frenchproperty/conference/survivalfrench.html), even if you’re not a participant of the Working and Living in France Conference (/frenchproperty/conference/index.html).
