It’s Not Too Late! Come to Nice and Provence This September!

Logo for the 2022 Living & Investing in France conference in Nice

It’s only six weeks away, but it’s not too late to register, book your tickets and pack your bags!

Opportunity Travel and the Adrian Leeds Group have partnered to offer you three glorious power-packed days in Nice this September…for a fun-filled adventure to learn more about life on the Riviera with a like-minded, well-connected group of participants and experts.

I’m leading the show…starting off with a full-day conference on September 16th, 2022 at the Hôtel Splendid Hotel & Spa in the heart of Nice, France. Along with our on-the-ground experts, I and the entire team will teach you how easy it can be to make your dream come true…to have the right to live in France and to find a property to rent or buy anywhere in France your heart desires.

Our cast of experts will not only walk you through the process of how to have the right to live in France, they will shine a spotlight on what living your best life on the French Riviera can be. Whether in the heart of Nice, the enclaves along the coast or the perched hilltop villages, our experts will provide you with current information about properties on the market, what the purchase and rental process is like and review what you can expect to spend on a purchase or a rental. This is your chance to get to know the famous and fabulous Côte d’Azur!

Living & Investing in France Conference
Nice, France
September 16–25, 2022
70 Participants Maximum

If you don’t already know Nice and the French Riviera, it’s true, Nice is nice!

Nice is the hub of the entire Riviera. It’s a cosmopolitan city with a lot of life, a real heart, and superb inner-city transportation so you don’t need a car to enjoy it fully. The Mediterranean Sea is on its doorstep, the weather is mild and very sunny (they claim 300 days a year of sunshine!). It has one of the few international airports in France and is close to the Italian border. Property is half the price of Paris’ real estate and the beach lifestyle is whole lot more relaxed than the hubbub of Paris. Quite frankly, it’s easy to understand why Nice is both a great place to visit and to live full time.

Map of the neighborhoods in Nice, France

Nice has a welcoming international community that makes you feel very much at home among the locals. You’ll find a fascinating mix of Italians, British, Irish, Russians, Scandinavians, as well as a large and active American community. Not knowing the language is less of an issue, thanks to the many non-French speaking residents and visitors. You will quickly discover that there is no shortage of activities for internationals in Nice and the nearby Côte d’Azur communities…such as Villefranche-sur-Mer, Monaco, Menton, Antibes and Cannes.

Part I: During our time together in Nice, starting with a full day of informative conference sessions and ending with cocktails (!), you’ll get to meet lots of folks who have the same desire to enrich their lives in France as you do as well as a lot of our “community” who have already made the move! We’ll introduce you to our “boots on the ground” contacts and make sure you get answers to all your questions. You’ll come away with new friends and a host of valuable resources—everything you need to know about living, investing or retiring in France.

On Day 2 starting at 10 a.m., you’ll have the opportunity to visit about 10 properties currently on the market for sale in Nice! We’ll give you the location and information for each of the properties and then you’re on your own to stroll to any or all as you like. In the afternoon, our speakers and staff will be available for a general Q&A—this is your chance to ask just about anything you didn’t ask during the conference!

Day 3 is even more fun as we venture out for a full day exploring the Côte d’ Azur by motor coach. Believe me, you’ll never want to leave the breathtaking beauty of this blue-jeweled coastline! We’ll take a special moment to visit the famous Institut de Français in Villefranche-sur-Mer along the way. Our route takes us through all the enclaves along the coast including Villefranche-sur-Mer, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Monaco, and Menton and we’ll stop for an elegant lunch and enlightening tour of the awe-inspiring Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild.

Do whatever you like on the day off and if you’re going on the tour the next day…get ready!

This first part of the program—the Conference, the Open House, Q&A, and the tour of the Riviera, can be registered for without having to take the Tour to Provence and the Occitanie. These three days with us in Nice are limited to 70 participants. There will be a special discount when you register for the Conference Package, which includes both the three-day conference and the five-day tour.

Part II: Join us as we explore Provence and the Occitanie over five days. We’ll be traveling by luxury coach together, staying in the region’s most charming hotels, and enjoying the fresh and healthy cuisine of the South of France over five glorious days when the weather is just starting to turn a bit cool. It’s the perfect time of year to discover this beautiful region of France. This is also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the French countryside in person with Adrian Leeds by your side accompanied by professional tour guides who will educate and entertain us.

Over the next five days, we will travel to Avignon, a three-hour ride with a special stop along the way at Châteaux La Coste, a contemporary art center, winery, and resort near Aix-en-Provence. We’ll enjoy a special tour and visit their beautiful sculpture gardens. You will have time to roam the grounds at your leisure and stop for lunch at one of the four restaurants on-site. The Hôtel de l’Horloge, one of Avignon’s most charming hotels located right in the city center where no vehicles are even allowed will be our home for two nights.

While in Avignon, we’ll visit Palais des Papes (Pope’s Palace) a World Heritage site by UNESCO and one of the ten most visited monuments in France. You’ll have a chance to wander the ancient streets of Avignon and discover its theatrical ambiance and enjoy dinner that night as a group at a typical Provençal restaurant within walking distance of our hotel.

The next day, we’re headed first to the renowned Pont du Gard, a true masterpiece of ancient architecture. A UNESCO World Heritage site, this 2,000 year-old aqueduct was built halfway through the first century AD. It’s the principal part of a 50-kilometer long three-level aqueduct, standing 50 meters high, that supplied water to the city of Nimes (formerly known as Nemausus). After our visit to Pont du Gard, we’ll take in Uzès on Market Day, a beehive of activity and a great place to buy all sorts of Provençal treasures. We’ll take our time in this village, steeped in history, to discover the historic center and we’ll savor lunch at the celebrated Midi à l’Ombre, a “bistronomic” traditional kitchen with service in the garden under the shade of a majestic hackberry tree on the edge of Uzès. This should fuel us up for what’s to come—an opportunity to visit a few properties for sale!

Enough for one day, we’ll get up bright and early to head to Baux-de-Provence and the extraordinary “Carrières de Lumières” (Quarries of Light) exhibition—a dazzling multimedia show within a limestone quarry that can only be described as “magical.” Spectators are completely immersed in artistic images projected onto all the surfaces of the stone; the ground is completely covered too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. You won’t want to miss this unique attraction. We’ll have lunch in Roussillon— the land of ochres—where the sea once covered the area. Our next stop is Aix-en-Provence, the heart of Provence, well known for its abundance of universities. It’s famous for its outdoor markets and handsome pedestrian lanes, as well as its refined residents and their ability to embrace the good life. Nowhere else in France is “l’art de vivre” (the art of living) so well on display. Aix-en-Provence is also ancient—a Celtic-Ligurian capital from the third-century BC.

We’ll spend three nights in the oldest part of Aix—just steps from the famous and beautiful Cours Mirabeau. You’re sure to get a good rest at the historic Hôtel de France (the former Hôtel des Princes) where Napoleon, Pius VII, Queen Marie Christine of Spain and many celebrities have stayed. And, you’ll have plenty of time to explore and experience one of the region’s most elegant communes.

On Friday, first thing in the morning, we’ll head out to “one of the most beautiful villages in France”—Lourmarin. This part of Provence is known as the Luberon, nestled in the middle of vineyards, olive groves, and almond trees. Lourmarin becomes quite animated during summer due to its numerous café terraces, restaurants and boutiques, and its well-known Friday morning open-air market. In fact, this is why we chose a Friday to visit the village—you can shop until your heart’s content for all the wonderful specialties this area of Provence has to offer.

After our visit to Lourmarin, we’ll discover the wines of Provence at the Domaine de Fontenille in Lauris. Once a family home, the now luxury hotel features two dining experiences. We’ll be treated to a four-course luncheon while sitting on the south terraces of the country house, in the shade of hundred-year-old plane trees. We’ll savor numerous dishes and sip wines from the Fontenille vineyard! After lunch, we’ll pass by the hilltop Luberon villages of Bonnieux, Gordes, and Ménerbes nestled among vineyards, olive groves and lavender fields. You’ll find it difficult to decide which of these hilltop towns is the most beautiful, or has the most to offer, but our tour will give you a taste to help you decide for yourself. In the afternoon, we’ll return to Hôtel de France and you’ll have free time to relax and explore the city.

Saturday is open for property visits in Aix-en-Provence. You can navigate on foot from one property to the next, and see real estate opportunities firsthand with Jennifer Parrette and Ella Dyer from the Adrian Leeds Group. It is also market day in Aix! This will be your last opportunity to enjoy this wonderful market—one of the best in Provence. This is also a perfect time to stroll around this lovely city with its incredible history, gorgeous architecture, magnificent fountains, sophisticated shops, and restaurants—there’s something to satisfy everyone’s tastes.

After our busy morning, we will enjoy a sumptuous lunch in the Salon de Thé at the beautiful Caumont Museum. Save your appetite for this very special meal in this mansion built “between courtyard and garden” with an architectural design that appeared in Paris in the 16th-century—a château and its park on an urban scale.

Lunch at the Hôtel Caumont, Aix-en-Provence

Sunday we will head back to Nice, but you’ll have the morning free to take in a bit more of Aix before our departure. There’s much more in store for you, too. Stops along the way and special tours, which are in the works and not yet confirmed enough for me to divulge them! But, trust me, you will not be disappointed! And that’s just a glimpse of our schedule, literally “the tip of the iceberg.”

So now, if you’re thinking about joining us in France, why not make this tour part of a greater adventure? Barb at Opportunity Travel would be delighted to help you plan a wonderful pre- or post-tour itinerary anywhere in France or Europe. After our meetings and explorations, believe me, you’ll be ready for a complete “immersion.”

A gentle reminder though…time is of the essence. If you’re imagining yourself in France, in good, fun-loving company, taking in some of the best this country has to offer, reserve your place today!
