For Sale: On the Steps of Midnight in Paris
Remember in the Woody Allen film, Midnight in Paris, the magic steps on which Gil (Owen Wilson) sits when a car pulls up and a group of party goers in 1920s clothing invites him to join them?
Owen Wilson doesn’t come with the apartment, but a cellar and a parking place do!
This spacious studio apartment with three large windows is at the top of rue de la Montagne Sainte Geneviève at the heels of those very steps, with a beautiful view of the steps’ Church of Saint Etienne du Mont, Le Panthéon and the Place du Panthéon. (The church contains the shrine of Sainte Geneviève, the patron saint of Paris, and other illustrious Parisians are buried here.)
This is a unique opportunity to purchase a property in one of the city’s most desirable locations, in a historic building centuries-old, but perfectly refurbished to contemporary standards. The apartment’s three windows face west with extraordinary views of these monuments and the beautiful street below.
The third-floor walk-up is an easy 45 spiraling stairs around a highly unusual twisted wooden pole, showing off its true age of about 350 years. The apartment can easily be converted to a one-bedroom. As an estate property, the kitchen and bath both need an update, but it will be well worth it, considering how unusual it is to find such a jewel in this location with such important amenities as a cellar and very rare-to-find parking.
Some furnishings remain with the apartment—two antique wooden dressers, an antique round wooden table and a semi-round table, a bench, small couch/bed, glass shelving unit, eight antique chairs, and a rug.
The apartment is located in the ultra-desirable Parisian school district of Lycée Henri IV. The Jardin du Luxembourg is just a five-minute walk away as is the lively shopping street of rue Mouffetard. Centrally located, Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Notre Dame are within minutes by foot and there is no shortage of restaurants, cafés, bars, and jazz clubs. Plus, hop on the nearby RER B to easily access both Charles de Gaulle and Orly Airports. All of Paris is at your toes!
Asking Price: 689,000€ (Price includes agency fee, paid by the buyer.)
Parking is valued at approximately 50,000€ and can be rented or sold.

Hi
It was wonderful seeing our street and the outside of the building where our holiday apartment was located. We were almost opposite the building the current apartment is for sale. When we found out that this was the street which was in Midnight in Paris and the steps of the church where Gill was sitting when the car drove up, I sent my husband out at midnight to see if a black 1920’s vehicle would turn out and whisk him back to the 1920’s.
He came back and said nothing happened, I am not sure if I believed him.We love Paris and it is a dream to be able to live there. Would definitely love to buy the apartment but sadly we don’t have the $$$ to do so. However it is lovely to dream and the apartments you have for sale keep our dreams alive. Thank you you for that. If we win the lotto we will definitely be in touch and happily exit Western Australia to move to Paris. Kind regards.
