Meet us in Nice, Provence and the Occitanie–This September!

Logo/Meme for the Living & Investing in France conference and tour in the south of France 2022

We’re doing it again this year! Three days in Nice for the Living and Investing in France Conference 2022 (September 16-18) and five days on Tour to Provence and the Occitanie (September 20-25)!

Hosted by Opportunity Travel & Adrian Leeds Group

Part I: Get to know Nice and the French Riviera!
September 16-18, 2022 – Space is limited to 70 participants

Part II: Experience the Lifestyle on the French Riviera!
September 20-25, 2022 – Space is limited to 30 participants

If you don’t already know Nice and the French Riviera, it’s true, Nice is nice!

Nice is the hub of the entire Riviera. It’s a real city with a lot of life, a real heart, and great inner-city transportation, so you don’t need a car to enjoy it fully. It’s one of three cities in France with an international airport, making it easy to hop on and off a plane to visit the rest of the world. The gorgeous aqua blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea are on its doorstep and weather that is mild (in the 80°F range in the summers) and very sunny (they claim 300 days a year of sunshine). Property is half the price of Paris and the lifestyle much more relaxed.

All this makes it both a great place to live and a great place to visit.

Nice has a very international community that makes you feel very much at home among the locals. Not knowing the language is less of an issue, thanks to all the non-French speakers. There is no shortage of activities for internationals in Nice and things to do in the nearby Côte d’Azur communities…such as Cannes, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Monaco, Menton, etc.

During our time together in Nice, you’ll get to meet lots of folks who have the same desire to enrich their lives with France as you do. We’ll introduce you to our “boots on the ground” contacts and make sure you get the answers to all your questions. You’ll come away with new friends, a host of important resources, and become well informed about living, investing, or retiring in France. And much, much more!

The official schedule is not yet carved in stone, but here’s an advance look at what we have in store for you during Part I:

Day 1: Friday, September 16, 2021, full Conference Day with lunch and cocktails!

(Note: Arrive in Nice the day before and check into our hotel where we have arranged special rates for our conference attendees.)

Our preferred hotel for the conference and your stay is the Splendid Hôtel & Spa—a unique and unforgettable experience in Nice. Located in the heart of Nice’s chicest district, the Splendid is splendidly just steps from great shopping, Le Vieux Nice (the oldest part of the city), and the Baie des Anges (the Mediterranean Sea).

A deluxe room at the Splendid Hotel & Spa in Nice, France

You’ll spend this entire day with all of our experts and me in a meeting room at the Splendid Hôtel for a power-packed day of informative presentations. We’ll be talking about financial planning, getting a mortgage, learning French, visas and immigration issues, international tax implications, currency exchange, crossing the cultural divide, finding property for purchase or rent, and the process of purchasing property, of course! This day will fill you to the brim with knowledge all while having lots of fun and meeting new people and resources.

A Day Off—do whatever you like and if you’re going on the tour the next day…get ready!

This first part of the program—the Conference, the Open House, Q&A, and the tour of the Riviera, can be registered for without having to take the Tour to Provence and the Occitanie. These three days with us in Nice are limited to 70 participants. There will be a special discount when you register for the Conference Package, which includes both the three-day conference and the five-day tour. There are also Early Bird Special Rates.

You may register for only the Living & Investing Conference (Part I) or the Conference + Tour (Part II) if space is available.

Part II: Experience the Lifestyle on the French Riviera!

Join Our Experts and Expats for a Fun-Filled Adventure. Space is limited to 30 participants.

Join us as we explore Provence and the Occitanie over five days. We’ll be traveling by luxury coach together, staying in the region’s most charming hotels, and enjoying the fresh and healthy cuisine of the South of France over five glorious days when the weather is just starting to turn a bit cool. It’s the perfect time of year to discover this beautiful region of France. This is also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the French countryside in person with Adrian Leeds by your side accompanied by professional tour guides who will educate and entertain us.

This is just the beginning…as we fine-tune our plans.

Day 1: Tuesday, September 20, 2022

We’ll depart from Nice by luxury motor coach and drive to Avignon, a three-hour ride with a special stop along the way at Châteaux La Coste, a contemporary art center, winery, and resort near Aix-en-Provence. We’ll enjoy a special tour and visit their beautiful sculpture gardens. You will have time to roam the grounds at your leisure and stop for lunch at one of the four restaurants on-site.

Spider on water sculpture at the Châteaux La Coste

Hôtel de l’Horloge, one of Avignon’s most charming hotels located right in the city center where no vehicles are even allowed will be our home for two nights.

While in Avignon, we’ll visit Palais des Papes (Pope’s Palace) a World Heritage site by UNESCO and one of the ten most visited monuments in France. A true symbol of the influence of Western Christianity in the 14th century, this masterpiece of a monument is the largest medieval fortress and gothic palace in Europe. Offering countless, and fabulous riches, as much architectural as pictorial, the palace immerses visitors in the splendor of the papal court.

You’ll have a chance to wander the ancient streets of Avignon and discover its theatrical ambiance. Every year in July, the city transforms its architectural heritage and welcomes tens of thousands of theater-lovers to the Avignon Theater Festival, one of the largest performing arts festivals in the world.

We will enjoy dinner that night as a group at a typical Provençal restaurant within walking distance of our hotel.

Day 2: Wednesday, September 21, 2022

We’re headed first to the renowned Pont du Gard, a true masterpiece of ancient architecture. A UNESCO World Heritage site, this 2,000 year-old aqueduct was built halfway through the first century AD. It’s the principal part of a 50-kilometer long three-level aqueduct, standing 50 meters high, that supplied water to the city of Nimes (formerly known as Nemausus).

The conference group from 2021 at Pont du Gard

After our visit to Pont du Gard, we’ll take in Uzès on Market Day, a beehive of activity and a great place to buy all sorts of Provençal treasures. Often called the “First Duchy of France,” Uzès is a blend of Medieval, Renaissance, and classical styles, the Duchy of Uzès—or ducal castle—is one of the flagship sites of the city.

The open-air market in Uzès on market day

We’ll take our time in this village, steeped in history, to discover the gothic chapel and its superb stained glass windows, the splendid Renaissance façade of the central building, the furnished apartments, the cellar, and the Bermonde Tower, an imposing 11th century keep offering a wonderful view of the rooftops of the historic center.

That day, we’ll savor lunch at the celebrated Midi à l’Ombre, a “bistronomic” traditional kitchen with service in the garden under the shade of a majestic hackberry tree on the edge of Uzès. This should fuel us up for what’s to come—an opportunity to visit a few properties for sale.

Day 3: Thursday, September 22, 2022

After breakfast, we’ll depart by luxury coach for Baux-de-Provence and the extraordinary “Carrières de Lumières” (Quarries of Light) exhibition—a dazzling multimedia show within a limestone quarry that can only be described as “magical.” Spectators are completely immersed in artistic images projected onto all the surfaces of the stone; the ground is completely covered too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. You won’t want to miss this unique attraction.

The Carrières de Lumières” (Quarries of Light) exhibition

We’ll have lunch in Roussillon—the land of ochres—where the sea once covered the area. Several million years ago, when the ocean dried up, pouring rain slowly transformed the accumulated layers of limestone into ochre-bearing sands. Ochre was first used in the painted caves, embellished by prehistoric man. At the time of the French Revolution, it was later rediscovered and sold throughout the world for over a century and is again popular today. Ochre is a natural pigment with indelible color that makes a wonderful material for use in home decoration, painting, and ceramics.

View of the village of Roussillon

Our next stop is Aix-en-Provence, the heart of Provence, well known for its abundance of universities. It’s famous for its outdoor markets and handsome pedestrian lanes, as well as its refined residents and their ability to embrace the good life. Nowhere else in France is l’art de vivre (the art of living) so well on display. Aix-en-Provence is also ancient—a Celtic-Ligurian capital from the third-century BC.

Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne was born here. A walking trail links sites including his childhood home, Jas de Bouffan, and his former studio, Atelier Cézanne. The white limestone mountain Sainte-Victoire overlooking the city as well as the surrounding countryside were frequent subjects of his works.

Group lunch in Aix-en-Provence from 2021 conference

We’ll spend three nights in the oldest part of Aix—just steps from the famous and beautiful Cours Mirabeau. You’re sure to get a good rest at the historic Hôtel de France (the former Hôtel des Princes) where Napoleon, Pius VII, Queen Marie Christine of Spain and many celebrities have stayed. And, you’ll have plenty of time to explore and experience one of the region’s most elegant communes.

Village square in Aix-en-Provence

Day 4: Friday, September 23, 2022

First thing in the morning, we’ll head out to “one of the most beautiful villages in France”—Lourmarin. This part of Provence is known as the Luberon, nestled in the middle of vineyards, olive groves, and almond trees.

Lourmarin becomes quite animated during summer due to its numerous café terraces, restaurants and boutiques, and its well-known Friday morning open-air market. In fact, this is why we chose a Friday to visit the village—you can shop until your heart’s content for all the wonderful specialties this area of Provence has to offer.

The open-air market on Market Day in Lourmarin in 2021

Located next to the market area is the majestic Château de Lourmarin—the very first Renaissance castle built in Provence. The château hosts young artists in residence during the summer, concerts, conferences, and exhibitions throughout the year.

After our visit to Lourmarin, we’ll discover the wines of Provence at the Domaine de Fontenille in Lauris. Once a family home, the now luxury hotel features two dining experiences. One is Le Champ des Lunes, a Michelin-starred restaurant. The other is La Cuisine d’Amélie where we’ll be treated to a four-course luncheon while sitting on the south terraces of the country house, in the shade of hundred-year-old plane trees. This restaurant offers simple but inventive cuisine centered on the flagship products of the region. Their menu is constantly changing depending on the seasonality of products and the inspiration of the chef. We’ll savor numerous dishes and sip wines from the Fontenille vineyard!

After lunch, we’ll pass by the hilltop Luberon villages of Bonnieux, Gordes, and Ménerbes nestled among vineyards, olive groves and lavender fields. You’ll find it difficult to decide which of these hilltop towns is the most beautiful, or has the most to offer, but our tour will give you a taste to help you decide for yourself.

In the afternoon, we’ll return to Hôtel de France and you’ll have free time to relax and explore the city.

Day 5: Saturday, September 24, 2022

Today is open and we’ll be set up for property visits in Aix-en-Provence. You can navigate on foot from one property to the next, and see real estate opportunities firsthand with Jennifer Parrette and Ella Dyer from the Adrian Leeds Group.

Conference attendess looking at real estate listings in the window of a real estate office

It is also market day in Aix! This will be your last stop to enjoy this wonderful market—one of the best in Provence. You can get your fill of lavender sachets and soaps, enjoy the aromas of the fresh-picked fruits and vegetables or pick up any of the many wonderful handmade products produced only in Provence.

This is also a perfect time to stroll around this lovely city with its incredible history, gorgeous architecture, magnificent fountains, sophisticated shops, and restaurants—there’s something to satisfy everyone’s tastes.

After our busy morning, we will enjoy a sumptuous lunch in the Salon de Thé at the beautiful Caumont Museum. Save your appetite for this very special meal. The Hôtel de Caumont—Centre d’Art is located in the Mazarin neighborhood, the southern and aristocratic part of Aix-en-Provence. The Hôtel de Caumont is a mansion built “between courtyard and garden” with an architectural design that appeared in Paris in the 16th-century—a château and its park on an urban scale.

Day 6: Sunday, September 25, 2022

You’ll have the morning free to take in a bit more of Aix before our departure back to Nice by luxury motor coach.

There’s much more in store for you, too. Stops along the way and special tours, which are in the works and not yet confirmed enough for me to divulge them! But, trust me, you will not be disappointed!

And that’s just a glimpse of our schedule, literally “the tip of the iceberg.” When we get further along with the arrangements, we’ll fill you in about pricing, hotels, meals, and of course all the details of our day-to-day itinerary.

So now, if you’re thinking about joining us in France, why not make this tour part of a greater adventure?

Barb at Opportunity Travel would be delighted to help you plan a wonderful pre- or post-tour itinerary anywhere in France or Europe. After our meetings and explorations, believe me, you’ll be ready for a complete “immersion.”

A gentle reminder though…time is of the essence. If you’re imagining yourself in France, in good, fun-loving company, taking in some of the best this country has to offer, reserve your place today.

We’re still finalizing the arrangements, but as we get closer to the tour date, we’ll have a lot more information to share. If this trip sounds interesting to you, we encourage you to get your name on the list right away because space is very limited and sellout risk is high.

Opportunity Travel & Events:

This is an unbeatable Value, a Life-Changing Experience…

In addition to being a top-notch program that includes memorable travel experiences and incredible contacts and connections, this conference and tour represent a tremendous value.

On your own, you would find it nearly impossible to arrange a meeting with all the amazing contacts we have lined up. In fact, access to just one of the professionals we’ll have on hand could cost you several hundred dollars for only a few hours of their time.

As part of this program, you’ll get to meet with and hear from a hand-picked collection of insider experts. They’ll be available at each stop during our journey to answer your questions and share their insights.

Can you imagine what it might cost you to arrange this kind of curated experience on your own? And it’s pretty hard to know who to trust when you’re on unfamiliar ground, and outside of your home country.

We get all the bumps and hurdles out of the way and connect you with our France experts—the preliminary homework and research is already done.

Our mission is to deliver all the time-saving, money-saving, trouble-saving secrets you need to make your dream of living and/or investing in Frances easy, quick, affordable… and enjoyable.

But I must warn you, space is very limited and we expect this popular program to fill up quickly.

TRAVEL INSURANCE INFORMATION:

We strongly urge you to purchase a travel policy that provides individual Trip, Air, Health, Accident, Baggage and Cancellation Insurance. As we’ve seen during the pandemic, it is more important than ever to protect yourself, your health, and your travel investment.

For instance, if you were to test positive for COVID before your departure and be required to quarantine, your policy would cover any extended hotel stays that might be needed.

If you would like to receive a quote and book your travel insurance online, here are two options to consider:

Travel Guard (AIG)—Click here for a quote
Travel Insured—Click here for a quote

Please note that rates are based on the total dollar amount of your trip and your age. Be sure to read the fine print and understand what coverage is provided. If you have questions about travel insurance, feel free to email Opportunity Travel.
