Finding Purpose in France, with Lisa Anselmo

Lisa Anselmo and her book My Part-time Paris Life

In her talk, “Finding Purpose in France,” author and coach, Lisa, will share her story, and talk about how disrupting your life (whether intentional or not) can set you on a path toward self-discovery, reinvention—and renewed purpose.

Lisa has spent most of her professional career in magazine publishing, working on such iconic brands as People, InStyle, and Allure. She’s been everything from a creative director to an opera singer, but ultimately, she has followed her passion for storytelling and inspiring people.

Lisa started traveling to France regularly more than 15 years ago—at first, to cover the fashion trade shows for a lifestyle website. But soon, she had cultivated friends—both Parisians and expats—and eventually built another life across the ocean. After losing her mother to breast cancer, she was motivated to make her other life official, buying an apartment on Paris’s Right Bank.

She is the author of the memoir My (Part-Time) Paris Life: How Running Away Brought Me Home (St. Martin’s Press), a candid story of a woman searching for hope and healing in France. Her Youtube series of the same name showcases Parisians and expats who, like her, have taken a risk to change their lives.

Lisa’s articles have appeared in New York magazine, AARP, People, The Local France, and Bonjour Paris. She has been featured in New York magazine’s The Cut, Bustle, Travel + Leisure, the BBC, HGTV’s House Hunters International, Rudy Maxa’s World, Taste of France magazine, and International Living, to name a few.

Note: This event will be recorded so that you can watch it at a later time and send it to your friends! This is our second Après-Midi in Nice…with more to come—every other month on the fourth Thursday!

Montage of the authors speaking at the Meet the Authors event in NiceJoin us in the Caribbean atmosphere of La Havane in Nice to meet a group of local authors and discover their books and their stories. This has been an annual event for the past several years and it just gets better and better.

The authors will talk about their recent works, read a bit from them, and answer your questions. The authors will have a few of their books for purchasing and signing, but to be sure, you may want to pre-order your copy and bring it with you for your own personal signed copy!

I will emcee the event and share in some of my own experiences. Participation is FREE, but we ask that you purchase at least one drink to show the host venue how much we appreciate their hospitality!

Ella Dyer, author of Nice in Nice and the event organizer, is fond of saying “A lifetime in Nice is never enough!”

Meet the Authors:

LYNN HEYMAN

Lynn Heyman, author of Paris Moments, a NovelLynn Heyman is a New York City native, and has an illustrious career teaching French language and literature. She has studied and spent years in Paris and throughout France, where she returns often. A seasoned world traveler, she now resides near San Diego, California.

Lynn attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst as well as La Sorbonne in Paris. In addition, she studied at the Université de Strasbourg in “Le Français des Affaires” (business French). She was awarded on numerous occasions by the American Association of Teachers, the French government, the Québec government, and by the Université de Pau in France.

Lynn has 38 years of teaching French under her belt at both High School and University levels. One of the many feathers in her cap was being hosted by King Mohammed VI in Morocco. A prolific author, she’s lived in many cities, has traveled to many places, and has had a fascinating life that includes dying on the operating table! Lynn’s congenital heart issue required her aorta to be rebuilt, thus bringing her back to life. Survival has given her a renewed outlook on life as a daily gift to be celebrated to the fullest, not unlike the philosophy of Camus.

The Lone Doe is a spiritual awakening journey, toward soul wholeness, and unconditional love.
