SPECIAL MESSAGE: Our Three Newest Pieds-à-Terres in Paris

Parler Paris Apartments

If you’re planning on tuning in for our newest episode on House Hunters International this coming October 8th,* then you know that during the show we visit three apartments with the purchaser, who in the end of course, chooses one to rent or purchase, renovate and enjoy. Very often, the apartments you see are those that we found for our clients, helped them purchase and with the fine talents of Interior Architect Martine di Mattéo, renovated and decorated them, all with the plan to make them available for your divine pleasure during your next stay in Paris!

Over the last six years, since we began to build a roster of luxury apartments, most of them fit this category — apartments over which we’ve had a lot of influence, in terms of location, design, appointments and amenities. Our philosophy is to create a truly luxury product, offer them at current market value (meaning they rent at the same rate as other comparable apartments) and attract a highly selective and discerning client — the kind of renter who has much in common with the owners!

Recently we’ve added a few new luxury “pied-à-terres” to our ‘roster’ of ‘drop-dead’ gorgeous Paris apartments that you will want to know about. One is the subject of a House Hunters International — “Searching for Style and Space in Paris” – Episode HHINT-4107H, airing this coming October 27th (11:30 pm ET/PT and 2:30 am ET/PT).

It’s called “Le Luxe d’Argent” — and that’s exactly what it is: Silver Luxury.

Le Luxe d’Argent is a chic and modern one-bedroom apartment with plenty of old world charm after a complete renovation this past spring. The cool and sleek silver color scheme chosen by designer extraordinaire, Martine di Mattéo, has a real calming effect while the intelligent layout makes living there a pleasure.

The bedroom features a comfortable queen-size bed that can be made up as twins, and wrap-around closets for optimum use of space. Being situated on a small interior “courette” makes it ideal for a good night’s sleep. Immediately adjacent to the bedroom is the contemporary bathroom where you will find double sinks, heated towel rack and a spacious glassed-in shower. It is also accessible directly from the primary rooms of the apartment. Like smart Paris apartments, a beautifully appointed powder room is separate and accessible from the entry hall.

The complete and functional kitchen has been equipped with a granite countertop and custom hand-made oak cabinetry which houses a dishwasher, microwave, conventional oven, four burner stove and refrigerator with freezer. There is also a Nespresso machine and toaster provided for your use. Dishes, glasses, cutlery, and cooking implements round out the inventory.

Within easy reach is the Corbusier-style glass and chrome dining table with four leather chairs. Here you can enjoy the gourmet meal that you created or just plan your day over coffee and croissants.

With its two large windows, the living room is bright and welcoming. Under a one-of-a-kind, Eiffel Tour themed painting by French artist, Pascal Amblard, sits the elegant sofa bed that transforms into a queen-size bed when needed. From here the 59-inch, flush-mounted flat-screen TV looms large for enjoyable viewing. Glass and chrome end and coffee tables to compliment a stylish chair complete this conversation, relaxing and entertaining space perfectly.

When not out enjoying the beautiful city, your entertainment needs are met with access to over 100 cable TV channels, several of which are in English. You can also make good use of the Bose iPod docking system and Blu-ray DVD player. Included with your stay is free access to the apartment’s WiFi connection as well as use of the telephone, which allows you to call land lines in over 100 countries as well as land lines and cell phones in the U.S. and Canada, at no cost.

Next to the powder room, in the entrance hallway is the laundry closet, with combination washer/dryer and portable drying rack. The apartment lacks nothing and as an added bonus, stay close to family and friends by renting Le Bien Illuminé, which is in the building next door! How convenient is that?

Then, you’re going to love La Petite Porcelaine. Despite its small size, this apartment in the upper Marais has been recently transformed into a space, again by Martine di Mattéo, that lacks nothing for a comfortable stay in Paris. Located on the second floor of a centuries-old building that is typical of the district, it’s on the top floor under a sloping roof with lots of windows facing three directions and lots of light, but with complete privacy.

When you enter the “petite porte d’entrée,” you will immediately feel the charm, but elegance of a well-designed and fully equipped “aerie.” There is a double sofa bed flanked by two custom-built storage closets with shelving, hanging space and drawers. In-cabinet lighting highlights a collection of Asian inspired porcelain pottery with blue motifs. Blues and grays are the color scheme throughout the apartment providing a calm and relaxing ambiance.

Opposite the sofa bed is an entertainment center with a flat screen TV and DVD player within easy reach. Past the living room area is the eat-in kitchen with fold down dining table for two, which gives way to a very efficient kitchen. Complete with microwave, fridge with freezer, two-burner stove and all the appliances that you would expect, the kitchen will allow you to dine in when the feeling strikes you. All cookware, dishes, glassware and cutlery are provided.

Next to the kitchen is a powder room with sink and toilet. This room will come in handy at night for those sleeping on the sofa bed. This is the second toilet in the apartment, which is extremely unusual for an apartment of this size and was created purposely to accommodate guests in the living room.

Another “petite porte” leads to a windowed hallway that connects the bedroom and living room. The bedroom is romantically cozy with a queen-size bed that can be made as twins and a large window that overlooks the “petite courette.” Here there is another custom-built closet with drawers, shelving and hanging space. The bath is en suite and has a large bathtub with shower, toilet, sink and combination washer/dryer. (It should be noted that the ceiling over the tub area is low, but adequate for bathers under six feet tall.)

Whether you’re traveling with friends or kids, the hallway that connects the living room to the bedroom provides privacy between guests, too…a rarity in one-bedroom apartments in Paris. Kids can be tucked away in the bedroom while the parents enjoy a glass of wine on the couch. Or if you’re traveling with friends, early-risers can stay on the sofa bed and late-sleepers can take the bed(s).

Priced like a studio even though it’s a small one bedroom, this apartment is in a great location with easy Métro access — just three blocks (six-minute walk) to the Pompidou Center and a 10-minute walk to the Hôtel de Ville and the restaurant-and-shop-lined of rue Vieille du Temple. Just a 15-minute walk across the bridge takes you to the Notre Dame Cathedral.

Like all Parler Paris Apartments, included with the apartment is cable television, with over 100 channels, WiFi and free telephone with answering machine. Long-distance calls to land lines in over 100 countries are free. This extends to calls to cell phones in the US and Canada.

And coming soon to our Web site (but already getting booked up) is our newest, “La Coeur de la Cour” (The Heart of the Courtyard). We haven’t even taken proper photos yet, so follow me on a descriptive tour…

First of all, it’s on Le Marais’ most desirable shopping street rue des Francs Bourgeois, in the heart of it all! You enter through massive solid oak doors into a historically classified “hôtel particulier” (townhouse) carriageway into one of the loveliest and quietest of regal courtyards. The building dates back to 1586, built for a Notary and secretary to the king. It’s so elegant, you’d think it was for the king himself!

The apartment is directly at your right, behind large glass doors with an arched shape, in a space that at one time housed the carriages. It is here that you will enter into a grand living room/dining room/open kitchen on the main and ground level under centuries-old exposed oak beams. It is spacious, bright and beautifully decorated and appointed in subtle shades of whites, beiges and browns. This is another luxury apartment designed by Martine di Mattéo with all the class and charm possible in any one dwelling.

The kitchen is fully equipped with every luxury and appliance, including a large refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. A large wooden dining table seats eight with ease. The sofa becomes a bed when you want to sleep more of your friends or family. There is a large flat-screen TV, DVD player, VOIP phone for free long distance dialing and a whole range of the latest movies (thanks to the owner who is one of Hollywood’s most illustrious writers!). This is the room where everyone will want to congregate and turn into a home away from home.

Up an ancient staircase, past a coat closet, lies a sumptuous master bedroom suite with views on both the beautiful courtyard and the lively street. Exposed wood beams, antique doors to the double and ample closets, the arched windows and hand-made iron queen-size bed make this “boudoir” reek with charm. A large natural oak desk and chair in one corner is a perfect spot to write your memoirs and a quilted “chaise longue” on the other end is where you will want to while away the hours reading or dreaming. The room is also equipped with a flat-screen TV and iPod docking station for a perfect background to romantic or lazy times.

Adjacent to the master bedroom is a sparkling white tile bathroom with claw foot tub/shower, antique mirrors and an oval window from which you can see “le coeur de la cour.” The toilet is separate so that your guests can make use of it while others are luxuriating in a hot bath. These rooms lack nothing.

On the lower level down a “colimaçon” (spiral staircase) is another bedroom that sleeps two in twins or converted to a queen size bed. Off white and appointed in antique furnishings, it is fully equipped for a peaceful sleep and has it’s own full bathroom with toilet and tub of the same bright white “Métro” style tile.

Le Coeur de la Cour sleeps up to six on three levels — so everyone can have lots of space to themselves, while coming together on the main level for the heart of the activity. No doubt, you will love making this your home away from home and calling it your own, even if for just a few days, a week or a month.

These are just our three newest “pieds-à-terres” in Paris. There are about 30 others from which you can choose to make your next stay in the City of Light as perfect as possible.

New Episode to Air!

“Returning to Europe” – Episode HHINT-4301H

October 8 at 10:30 pm ET/PT and 1:30 am ET/PT

Susie and her Argentinian fiancé, Max, met six years ago online. They wrote to each other every day without fail for nine months before meeting in person. After five years and a beautiful daughter, Allegra, Max was offered the job opportunity of a lifetime in Paris. The prospect of living in one of Europe’s most stylish and historic capitals was too much for Max and fashion and beauty journalist Susie to turn down. Although Susie is incredibly close to Max’s family, and the pair will sorely miss the support of their network in Argentina, the move has offered Susie the chance to reconnect with her father who is able to visit far more frequently now that the couple are a comparatively short hop away. The hardest part of the move for the couple will be the language barrier as neither of them speaks French. Will this couple find their perfect Parisian paradise? Find out when Adrian Leeds and House Hunters International explore the streets of Paris, France.

A la prochaine…
