They Took Their Bodies And Souls To Paris
They Took Their Bodies and Souls to Paris Tuesday, January 27, 2004 Paris, France * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Dear Parler Paris Reader, When we started to organize the Living and Investing in France Conference on U.S. soil (rather than the usual venue of Paris), we had to choose a city we felt was most appropriate. Immediately, San Francisco came to mind (no offense, you East Coasters)…because so many Bay Area folks seem to have left their hearts in San Francisco, but took their bodies and souls to Paris. We have so many friends from nine hours away, it’s tough to count. San Francisco and the surrounding area has a very strong and vibrant Francophile community that has opened their arms to us and everything French. So, as the conference details shape up, so does the sheer richness of what will take place there. We’ve condensed the usual four-day conference to three, to make it easy for anyone to spend a weekend in San Francisco, but participants won’t be missing anything. What usually takes a full day — the tour by motor coach of all 20 arrondissements of Paris led by author and historian, Thirza Vallois — will actually not be left out. Thirza, who has credentials a mile long and an ability to see history in layers that never ceases to spellbind her audiences during her brilliant lectures, has agreed to come all the way to the West Coast to give her tour of Paris during the conference dinner on Saturday night March 20th by projecting beautiful images on a screen while giving her personal account of the past, present and future of Paris. This is such a special opportunity, that we’re opening her talk to the public so that all of San Francisco can share in our pleasure at an all inclusive price for the four-course dinner with wine, coffee and lecture. Seats are limited to what the hotel can accommodate, of course. Conference regulars such as John Howell, of John Howell & Co, Solicitors & International Lawyers, who lives and works in Covent Garden, London, but deals with clients from all over the world, will be there to guide us through the maze of property purchasing. Peter Zipper with the Anglo Irish Bank, comes with an answer to off-shore banking from the point of view of an Austrian, and is one of the conference’s most popular speakers. Newcomer John Gosch, from the The IronBridge Group, is a CPA and consultant focusing on the needs of venture-funded and small business both domestic and international. International entrepreneurs will learn from John how to create and manage a start-up on the other side of the Atlantic. San Francisco based author Cara Black will add insight into the psyche of the French as a keynote speaker. Her career has taken off with the publication of the critically acclaimed third installment of her murder by arrondissement thrillers featuring the spike-haired, tattooed, Parisian detective, Aimée Leduc — “Murder in Belleville,” “Murder in the Marais,” “Murder in the Sentier.” She’s sure to be fun! And there’s so much more lined up that I’ll have to leave the rest for another day. But, if you’re wondering what else is in store, you can always visit the site or contact Schuyler Hoffman Toll Free in the U.S. at 1-877-457-2747 or by email [email protected] A la prochaine… Adrian Leeds P.S.
